Scouting is thriving in southwest Michigan!
More young people and families than ever before are taking advantage of Scouting’s time-tested, values-driven program! Delivered by top-quality local leaders and with the support of community organizations, these future community leaders are receiving the tools to help them succeed in life.
The Southwest Michigan Council is an integral part of the nation’s finest Scouting programs and has been recognized as a Quality Council for its efforts.
In order to provide these high quality programs, a strong base of financial strength is needed. A solid source of income is needed as a foundation for the quality Scouting programs upon which the Southwest Michigan Council builds.
Annually, like other council throughout the United States, the Southwest Michigan Council conducts a Friends of Scouting campaign to raise funds for the council to operate. This effort is necessary to raise the additional funds above and beyond what the United Way, our annual Popcorn Sale, and other income sources provide.
Your help is especially needed
While parents of Scouts do provide financial support to the cost of delivering Scouting to all of the communities within our council, the expense of owning and maintaining Rota-Kiwan Scout Reservation, employ a full-time staff, and delivering Scouting's programs, requires community "cost-sharing" from each district the council serves.
