"The Newo District Adult Recognition Dinner was held on March 29, 2008 at the Sturgis VFW.  Thank you very much to Council Commissioner Ray Marshall for presiding as the Master of Ceremonies.  Congratulations to all the adults who received awards and recognitions, including our two District Award of Merit recipients for 2007:  Matt Davidson and Richard Thompson.  Also recognized that evening was Jan Hayden from Troop 488 (Quincy), who received the Webelos Den Leader Training Award and the W. D. Boyce New Unit Organizer award.  To learn more about adult recognitions, please attend District Round Table meetings, or contact Daniel Moore at the SWMC office for more information."

IN THE NEWS

Three Rivers, MI-  Cub Scout Pack 444 of Three Rivers took the “Celebrations Around the World” theme of December to heart.  Sixteen of the Pack’s 31 boys took a South Shore train from South Bend, IN to Chicago, IL on December 15th.  In Chicago they visited the Museum of Science and Industry to see the fifty Christmas trees decorated from countries around the world.  The boys, and their families, had a fantastic and interesting time.  They saw model railroads, the inside of an actual 747 jet, huge farm equipment, and an actual toy factory!  Some of the boys visited the Star Wars exhibit there and some made their own Gravitron toys.  All of the boys had the opportunity to meet several Star Wars characters and, of course, to see all the beautiful trees.  Pack 444 has been a very busy group of young men since this program year started.  They have had campouts, fundraisers, Christmas caroling, a bowling party and many other activities along with the train trip.  Still more fun is promised as the Pack prepares for a roller skating party, the Blue and Gold banquet, the Pinewood Derby and, of course, camp at Roto- Kiwan.  There’s no moss growing on these shoes!
